PORT DICKSON – It was an awkward moment for Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad in Port Dickson when its voters could not recognise the former Menteri Besar of Negeri Sembilan.
Despite having led the state for 22 years and originated from Port Dickson, intriguingly, some voters thought that Isa was a Menteri Besar from another state.
Quoting a report from Sinchew Daily, Isa, who has been actively campaigning in the Malay areas moved into the Chinese area in Lukut for the first time on Tuesday for the by-election campaign.
Unfortunately for him, most of the voters have forgotten about the former Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar, who was once synonym with Port Dickson.
Many did not know Isa when they received the campaign flyers from him. Some tried hard to recall the individual contesting for the Port Dickson parliamentary seat.
Nevertheless, he relentlessly introduced himself as an old friend of Port Dickson and continued to work in raking the support of the voters.
Furthermore, he said that he has a winning strategy in Port Dickson.
Meanwhile, in an interview with China Press, he said that he needed to contest in Port Dickson regardless of the outcome.
He said, UMNO should have taken the advantage to attack the Pakatan Harapan over issues the which the government failed to resolve.
“UMNO said that it has risen and wanted to learn to become an opposition. Thus, they should practice what they preach by slamming the government.
“It is a pity that UMNO chose not to get involve in this by-election. Therefore, I chose to contest as an independent candidate,” he said. -MalaysiaGazette
