KUALA LUMPUR – The Ministry of Health (MOH) reported that 17 new Covid-19 clusters have been detected in the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur from 1 until 27 April and its daily positive cases is also on an increasing trend.
After reviewing the proposal from the MOH, Senior Minister (Security Cluster), Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said that the government has agreed to implement the Movement Control Order throughout Kuala Lumpur from 7 until 20 May.
He said, the standard operating procedures (SOP) for the MCO in Kuala Lumpur would be the same as what was announced earlier. Interstate and inter-district travel is not allowed with the exception of emergency and work related matters.
According to him, food premises such as restaurants, food truck, hawker and kiosks are allowed to operate from 6.00 am until 12.00 am, however, no dine-in would be allowed.
“The Ramadan bazaars are allowed to operate in MCO area according to strict SOP. However, the decision to continue or shut the bazaar’s operation is under the jurisdiction of the State Government or the Local Authority,” he said in a statement today.
He said, the MCO in 14 Provinces in the Besut district, with the exception of Hulu Besut, Terengganu will also be enforce beginning 7 May following the sudden increment of cases there.
The provinces include, Kampung Raja, Lubuk Kawah, Pelagat, Tenang, Keluang, Bukit Kenak, Kubang Bemban, Jabi, Kerandang, Pengkalan Nangka, Pasir Akar, Tembila, Bukit Puteri and Kuala Besut.
Ismail said, since 1 April until 3 May, MOH has recorded 406 positive cases based on 5,617 Covid-19 screening done on the residents in those localities. –MalaysiaGazette
