PUTRAJAYA – A physical education teacher from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Puncak Alam who allegedly encouraged rape has been transferred to the Selangor State Education Department (JPNS).

According to a statement from the Ministry of Education (MOE), the teacher will be placed in JPNS until the investigation on the alleged inappropriate rape jokes he made during a teaching and learning session (PdP) is completed.

He said, the ministry is aware that a police report has been lodged by the student on the incident which happened at that school on 24 April.

“Following the incident which is still under police investigation, the MOE did not issue any statement throughout the investigation period.

“At the moment, the MOE has placed that teacher in JPNS until the investigation is completed. Further action would depend on the result of the investigation on the case,” it said.

Therefore, MOE is studying about a comment made by the Principal of SMK Puncak Alam on that student through Facebook that went viral.

“MOE also verifies that a police report has been lodged by that Principal at the Kuala Selangor Police Station.

“He (School Principal) denied that he has uploaded the comment and suspected that his Facebook account has been hacked,” he said.

Meanwhile, MOE explained that six Letters of Notice on Absence to School have been issued to that student from 16 until 30 April.

“The student received the first warning, the school attendance monitoring on the student was done through the Sistem Sahsiah Diri Murid (SSDM).

“If a student is not present at school continuously for three days or 10 days consecutively without providing any written reason to the school or teacher, the Letters of Notice on Absence to School will be generated through this system as a first warning and it will be posted to the parents or guardian of the student.

“Generally, the notice is issued to ensure that parents, guardians and school is informed about the attendance of the student during the school session,” it said.

The statement also said that action would enable the MOE to monitor the possibility of dropout about students and to take appropriate intervention measures. –MalaysiaGazette
