SHAH ALAM – The Selangor state government said that it has received a high amount of reservation from factory owners in Selangor to purchase Covid-19 vaccine for the immunisation programme of their workers, especially the foreign workers.
However, Menteri Besar of Selangor, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said that he cannot reveal the number of businesses that showed their interest as they have yet to get the vaccine supplies.
“We cannot sell (as long as we do not have the supplies), therefore, we cannot mention the figure.
“But, we will conduct a research and offer to anyone who is interested. The number is quite high.
“I do not want to mention it yet, until we truly get the vaccine in our hands, then, we can roll it out,” he said during a news conference today.
Amirudin also gave his guarantee that the Covid-19 vaccine supply will not be given free to the factory owners and owners of large businesses, especially when it involves the foreign workers.
“It is not fully borne by the state government. We will offer it to them at an appropriate cost.
“This is to ensure that they can execute the immunisation programme. They are willing to pay. It is not that they want it for free,” he said.
Meanwhile, he does not reject the possibility that the senior citizens in Selangor under the Peduli Sihat aid will be given free vaccine.
“We have 230,000 recipients of Peduli Sihat. Most of them are senior citizens.
“If the National CITP agrees with this, we can also give it out free, as a national level implementation,” he added. –MalaysiaGazette
