KUALA LUMPUR – Random inspection by the authorities from the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) will be conducted on shoppers at business premises through the 2 Hours Limit Operation (2Hrs Limit Ops) in hope to spread awareness.
Its Minister, Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said that Malaysians not only need to adhere to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to curb the spread of the escalating Covid-19 infections, we also need to know about self-regulation.
This includes to reduce movement and time limit in premises determined by the ministry to 2 hours.
“The KDPNHEP’s enforcement needs cooperation from all consumers in practising self-regulation. Perhaps, we do not have enough of man-power to monitor each shopper as the area is too big.
“We hope that this would provide an awareness to the consumers in adhering to the SOP of not exceeding two hours when they are in the mall,” he said.
He said, no compound has been issued from the operation that started since 27 May 2021.
Besides the enforcers from KPDNHEP, the police and healthcare workers from the Ministry of Health (MOH) also have the right to check the MySejahtera mobile application of the patrons of business premises to ensure compliance to the 2 hours limit.
“The random checks is to increase awareness among consumers that they are being monitored,” he said.
The 2Hrs Limit Ops focusses on supermarket premises, shopping complexes, farmers markets and night markets that become the focus of shoppers.
The operation would include enforcers from MOH, PDRM and local authorities.
To date, 144 business premises nationwide have been inspected by the authorities. –MalaysiaGazette
