BANTING – The third school term for 2021/2022 has started today. Based on an observation by MalaysiaGazette early this morning, the school reopening went smoothly with compliance to the Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOP).
The students went back to school cheerfully after three weeks of school holidays.
Most of them showed up with high spirits when they were already present at their school as early as 6.30 am at SK Bukit Changgang, Banting, Selangor
This school was among the schools affected by the recent big flood and was turned into the flood evacuation centre (PPS).
“My children’s books were gone. We could not save them as we were at our hometown and not around during the flood. Their school uniform was alright. I washed them and I only bought essential stationeries.
“My children are still having high spirits to go back to school today,” she said.
A father, Sabree Jamil confessed that it was rather chaotic to prepare their children for the school as his family was focusing on the post-flood and cleaning their home.
He said, his house was submerged in knee-level water.
“I was not fully prepared and it was rather chaotic because we were focusing on the flood. However, the children are still happy to be able to go back to school despite the shortcomings,” he said.
Yesterday, the 2021/2022 third term school session started for Group A states in Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu with the exception of several schools in Johor that have been turned into flood evacuation centres or were flooded.
The third term session was supposed to begin on 2 January 2022 for Group A schools and 3 January 2022 for Group B schools. However, it was deferred for a week following the big flood which hit several states nationwide.
The physical school session for the third term of 2021/2022 started yesterday. Primary school students at special needs schools (SKPK) and integration special education programmes (PPKI), Year 1, 2 and 6 students and all students under the Additional Meal Plan (RMT) need to attend school without rotation. Meanwhile, Year 3, 4 and 5 students will be attending school on a rotation basis.
Students at National Secondary Special Education Schools (SMKPK), Special Vocational Education Secondary Schools (SMPKV) and PPKI need to attend school without rotation.
However, it is not a disciplinary offence if the parents or guardians choose not to send their children to school as long as they inform the school. -MalaysiaGazette
