PUTRAJAYA – You may bersalam (shake hands) during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri next week, the Minister of Health Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar said.

“Shaking hands are allowed but always wash or clean your hands and do not touch your face after shaking hands,” he said in a news conference after the Cabinet Meeting today.

The relaxation will come into effect on 1 May.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health (MOH) also highlighted several protocols in conjunction with the festive season.

Among them includes allowing takbir hari raya in mosques, suraus and homes under the condition of wearing face mask.

“Individuals who are positive of Covid-19 are forbidden to attend the takbir raya activity. Only fully vaccinated individuals without symptoms are encouraged to attend them,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Aidilfitri prayer is allowed at full capacity with the use of face mask.

Aidilfitri visiting and feasts are also allowed under the condition of wearing face mask. However, Covid-19 patients are not allowed to attend.

Besides that, visiting graveyards are also allowed. -MalaysiaGazette
