KUALA LUMPUR – 1,697 new Covid-19 cases were reported nationwide as of last midnight (16 May).

All new cases were local infections, shifting the cumulative pandemic cases to 4,442,746.

According to the data uploaded by the Ministry of Health (MOH) to COVIDNOW, there were six Covid-19 deaths within the same period, including one Brought-In-Dead (BID). With that, the Covid-19 death toll in Malaysia has increased to 35,620 cases.

Meanwhile, 1,123 Covid-19 cases were under treatment in the hospitals nationwide, including 40 patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

From that amount, 22 cases required respiratory support. -MalaysiaGazette
