KUALA LUMPUR – Former Attorney-General (AG), Tan Sri Tommy Thomas thinks that Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim needs to self-reflect and asks himself why he cannot be the Prime Minister after various attempts.
“I felt sad because he thought that he could be the PM in 1996/1997 and I felt that his termination in 1998 was caused by Dr Mahathir Mohamad and the others felt his threat. Therefore, they used the court to stop him from becoming PM.
“Other people feels sad for Anwar, but it does not mean that Anwar can become PM 24 years later,” he said in an interview with China Press.
Nevertheless, it is best for Anwar to answer why he could not become the PM and do some self-reflection.
“He missed the chance to become PM several times, including to be the seventh and eighth PM.
“I cannot answer why he missed his chance, but I feel that he needs to self-reflect and asks himself why he keeps letting opportunities slipped away.
“Yes, this is about numbers, but, why didn’t he have enough to become PM?
Meanwhile, Tommy said, the success of Barisan Nasional (BN) in Sabah, Melaka and Johor is driven by several factors, including the weak opposition.
When asked if the Pakatan Harapan (PH) should use the kleptocracy issue in the General Election, Tommy thinks that the corruption should be highlighted and not focusing on 1MDB related kleptocracy. -MalaysiaGazette
