PENANG – All 13 PAS divisions in Penang has decided unanimously to severe political ties with the state’s PKR.
The latest, which marked the final division, PAS Tanjung stated their decision in the AGM here yesterday.
Tanjung PAS chief, Yaacob Omar said,the decision is parallel to the 12 other PAS divisions in Penang, which marked our unanimous conclusion to end out political coalition with PKR.
According to him, their decision is based on how PKR failed to protect and defend Islam in the state when there were interferences in fatwa.
He claimed that these interferences, caused several fatwa delays while PKR’s representatives are the Exco for Islamic Affairs in the state government.
“PKR clearly follows the orders of DAP and gives more commitments towards that party and PAN and is continuously opposing PAS,” he told the reporters here today.
With the final decision by Tanjung PAS, this marked all 13 PAS divisions of Penang has cut formal political collaboration with Penang’s PKR.
The proposal is expected to be brought by Penang PAS to the party’s congress which will take place from 28 April to 1 May in Kedah.
The PAS divisions which approved the proposal to severe tahaluf siyasi with PKR before this were Batu Kawan, Bagan, Nibong Tebal, Permatang Pauh, Bayan Baru and Bukit Bendera.
This was followed by the divisions of Balik Pulau, Jelutong, Kepala Batas, Tasek Gelugor, Bukit Mertajam and Bukit Gelugor.
Several other PAS divisions in other states, especially Selangor and Terengganu also made the same decision in their respective division AGM. -MalaysiaGazette
