KUALA LUMPUR – The advisor of DAP, Lim Kit Siang was unsatisfied with Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang and urged him to expose the ‘culprits’ who tried to fail the Syariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act or RUU 355.
Kit Siang said that the PAS President needed to be truthful if he do not want to be seen as an irresponsible and baseless leader.
“Abdul Hadi need to name the ‘culprits’ who hampered his Private Member’s Bill if he doesn’t want to be seen as an irresponsible leader who makes baseless accusations.
“Who are these ‘culprits’ that can cause the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak to decide on not table his private bill?” he said in a statement.
He also wanted to know which party is the stated ‘culprit’.
“Is this culprit from the Barisan Nasional, Pakatan Harapan or PAS itself?” he said while waiting for an answer from Abdul Hadi himself.
Last November, the PAS President has brought a bill to strengthen the syariah courts to carry out criminal jurisdiction.
RUU35 was publicised to be taken in by the government to ease the process of it being tabled in the Dewan Rakyat.
However, on 29 Mac, Najib announced the government’s decision not to table the Private Member’s Bill in line with the principle of consensus in BN.
Last week, Abdul Hadi said, he knew who the culprits are and is prepared to face the challenge. -MalaysiaGazette
