RIYADH – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak together with United States President Donald Trump and more than 50 Muslim leaders attended the inauguration of the Global Centre for Combating Extremist Ideology here.
Saudi Arabian King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Trump inaugurated the centre at Mu’tamarat Nasiriyah, aimed at addressing extremist ideology in cyberspace.
The centre also aims to counter and prevent the spread of extremist ideology through promoting moderation, compassion and supporting the dissemination of positive agenda.
Earlier, the leaders attended the Arab-Islamic-US Summit at the King Abdulaziz International Convention Centre.
On the sidelines of the summit, Najib had a meeting with his counterpart from Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina at the convention centre Sunday night (Monday in Malaysia).
The two leaders discussed bilateral, regional and international issues.
Also present were Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein who is also Minister with Special Functions and Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom.
Najib concluded the second of his three-day working visit to the country by attending the TWEEPS 2017 Forum at a hotel here the same Sunday night.
The event focuses on how people could utilise social media networks for social good and to counter extremism and terrorism. – BERNAMA
