KUALA LUMPUR – The action of Datuk Seri Nazri Abdul Aziz who labelled Sarawak’s minister, Datuk Karim Abdul Rahman Hamzah as a ‘newbie and upstart minister’ which caused displeasure amongst the Barisan Nasional (BN) Youths in the state.
Chairman of Sarawak BN Youth, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof described Nazri’s statement as rude and it did not reflect on the BN as a family.
The Minister of Works also slammed the Minister of Tourism and Culture who labelled the Sarawak Minister as a ‘rookie and upstart minister’ as an insult to Karim, who was entrusted by the leadership of the state to head the ministry in the state.
“As a big family in BN, we need to discuss sensitive issues that are close to the hearts of the people under the spirit of consensus in BN, through discussions and not public statements. It could cause uproars among the netizens.
“There are better ways to explain an issue and it should be done amicably, and not by bringing each other down. We are from the same component party,” said Fadhillah, who is also the Youth Chief of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB).
According to him, the Sarawak BN Youth take stand that mutual respect and unity among the component party leaders should be the main priority. They should work out their differences in a harmonious way, through the party.
“The action in labelling each other as samseng (thugs) should not happen at all as it is not only an insult to the individual. It could also tarnish the party’s image, especially, being thugs is not a culture in BN or PBB,” he said. – MalaysiaGazette
