LONDON – Malaysia beats India 3-2 in the quarter finals of World Hockey League Semi-Finals in London yesterday. The winning qualifies Malaysia into the 2018 Men’s Hockey World Cup which will take place in India.
The top four position has booked a spot for Stephen van Huizen’s team for the eight time after 1973, 1975, 1978, 1982, 1998, 2002 and 2014 into the Hockey World Cup.
In the match against India at the Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre, Malaysia lead the match via Muhammad Razie Abdul Rahim at the 19th minute before Tengku Ahmad Tajuddin Tengku Abdul Jalil added another goal a minute later.
It was a dramatic success for the Malaysian team after losing out 2-5 to Argentina and 3-7 to England. However, they managed to turn the situation around after defeating South Korea 1-0 and China 5-1. – MalaysiaGazette
