PUTRAJAYA – The Prime Minister reminded all Imams (Religious leaders) and the Federal Village Development and Security Committees (JKKKP) to not be conceited by the statements surrounding 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB), including those from Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad.

According to Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, the former Prime Minister who is also the Chairman of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) is envious of the government’s achievements after the end of his ruling era.

“We shouldn’t try to knock out the government just because of 1MDB.We should work together with the government. Give sound suggestions, opinions and ideas to improve on its weaknesses.

“Unfortunately, the oppositions are not interested to be with the government. They prefer to see the government fall. We cannot trust people like these, including the former Prime Minister,” he said after handing out the offer letters for Hajj, a special programme with the Prime Minister and 1MDB Foundation at the Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque here today.

1,100 future hajj including the imams and JKKKP Chairmen throughout the country were present to receive the hajj offer letters.

Also present were Minister from Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom; Chief Minister of Melaka, Datuk Seri Idris Harun; Chairman of Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH), Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim and Chief Executive Officer of 1MDB, Datuk Arul Kanda.

According to Najib, although not everything surrounding 1MDB is right, a civilized citizen with the love for the country will not take this opportunity to fail the government.

He added, a big portion of 1MDB’s money is used for the benefits of the people, which include to help them achieve their wishes to fulfil their hajj.

“We have used a portion of 1MDB’s funds for the hajj programme. RM57 million have been spent for this programme.

“We have also used hundreds of million to help the flood victims nationwide. All these went unmentioned by the oppositions, including Dr. Mahathir. – MalaysiaGazette
