The latest addition of Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) which will begin its operation this 17 July via the Sungai Buloh-Kajang Line is a promising economy development for a better connectivity.
Based on an observation in Kajang, the people are optimistic on the MRT project in their city and they believe that it will further drive their economy.
According to trader Megat Hafizi, 44, the businesses in Kajang are expected to flourish with the new public transport system.
“The MRT in Kajang can change the economy here by providing convenience for the residence here in getting public transport. It will also speed up our journey from Kajang to the Klang Valley.
“It provides convenient access to other towns. With MRT, it is also easier for the tourists to get to Kajang and experience the vibrancy of Kajang,” he said.
With the MRT, the landscape of a ‘cowboy town’ will be transferred to a city which completes the people.
“It promises something new for the people in Kajang. We know that there are many attractions in Kajang. With the MRT, it is easier for us to commute around.
“We have the Kajang satay. We can further promote the town’s traditional food with the convenient access,” said optician, Christine Yong, 30.
“The MRT is great in attracting tourists. It will also reduce the traffic congestion in town centre. In economy, I believe that more people will get to know Kajang. Perhaps, foreign investors will also be attracted to invest here,” said Rozana Ariffin, 40.
Meanwhile, Azila Busrah, 24, said that the MRT may solve the traffic congestion problem faced by the area.
With the MRT, the community can commute without the traffic jam.
“The MRT helps us to get to the capital city. With the MRT, the traffic congestion can be managed.
“It is a convenience for the people in Kajang. I believe that the new public transport system will bring development to Kajang in the future,” said the salesgirl.
According to civil servant, Mohd Yusof Janallah Abidin, 42, he is grateful to the government in answering the people’s need for public transportation.
Many government projects have given positive impacts to the development of the town. MRT will also give direct and indirect effects to Kajang and its people.
“The commuter had helped us a lot previously. It was launched in Putrajaya but the areas in Kajang and Bangi too received the overflow of economy.
“The population may also increase in Kajang after this,” said Mohd Yusof. -MalaysiaGazette
