KUALA LUMPUR – Deputy President of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM), Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir shares about his family tree.
According to the Former Menteri Besar of Kedah, the very much debated Iskandar Kutty is the grandfather of Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad and not the father of the leader of PPBM.
Mukhriz, in a Facebook post entailed about his family tree by saying that Iskandar Kutty (Tun Mahathir’s grandfather) married Siti Hawa from Johor in 1881 in Penang.
“Tun Mahathir Bin Mohamad Bin Iskandar. The man from Kerala was not Tun M’s father, but his grandfather. Kerala was not an original descent of India but Yemen,” he said trying to clear the air of confusion.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Zahid Hamidi ‘exposed’ the status of Mahathir by saying that he is the son of Iskandar Kutty, an Indian descent.
“Mohamad (Tun M’s father) then married Wan Tempawan Bt Wan Hanafi and hence, the birth of Tun M @Che Det. He was called ‘Che’ as Wan, a daughter of a royal-family mother married a commoner,” explained the youngest son of Mahathir.
Mukhriz also explained that Iskandar Kutty, Mahathir’s grandfather was brought to Malaya by the East India Company (British) to teach English in the palace.
On the other hand, Mohamad (Tun M’s father) was the first Principal of the Sultan Abdul Hamid College in Kedah. – MalaysiaGazette
