KUALA LUMPUR – Former Deputy Minister of Finance, Datuk Dr. Awang Adek Hussin has been appointed as the new Chairman of Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) effective 1 September 2017.
The Minister of Rural and Regional Development Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said, the appointment of Awang Adek, 62, has received the greenlight from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
“With his experience, I believe that he will be able to lead MARA in implementing the policies and executing the planning of the ministry in achieving the objectives of National Transformation Programme,” the minister said in a statement today.
According to Ismail Sabri, the former Senator, Awang Adek would be able to adapt to his new responsibilities based on his experience of holding several important positions, including his political career. – MalaysiaGazette
