KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysians need to have high patriotism and should not falter in material greed by falling into corruption and power abuse.
Chief Commissioner of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Datuk Dzulkifli Ahmad in his National Day speech said, corruption and power abuse is a betrayal to the people and the country. It could destroy the independence the country had achieved for 60 years.
He emphasized, Malaysians need to appreciate the true meaning of independence and free themselves from the culture which can cripple the development of human capital and country.
“All Malaysians should understand the true meaning of independence and come together and bring Malaysia to its glory by building a clean nation and country. We need to break free from any element of corruption and power abuse.
“Therefore, I would like to urge all Malaysians to free their souls from greed and ill-gotten gains.
“Let’s free our families from illegal gains and power abuse,” he said here today.
He also conveyed his Hari Raya Aidiladha greetings to all Muslims nationwide. He said, true to the spirit of korban (sacrificial), everyone need to have strong perseverance in developing the nation, without falling into corruption and power abuse which will ultimately destroy themselves, their families and the country.
