SHAH ALAM – A prosecution witness in the murder trial of Kim Chol or Kim Jong-nam, the half- brother of North Korea’s leader, told the High Court today that one of the accused ‘did something’ to some members of the public at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2) two days before the murder of Kim.

Sepang/KLIA Criminal Investigation Department senior investigating officer ASP Wan Azirul Nizam Che Wan Aziz said, the Vietnamese accused, Doan Thi Huong was sighted to rehearse her act, based on closed-circuit television camera (CCTV) recordings.

“Doan approached members of the public randomly and wiped something, gently, on their faces from behind. When the persons turned around she appeared to apologise by bowing her head and putting her hands together in front of them, taking two, three steps back before leaving the place slowly,” he said while providing evidence based on CCTV footage ‘No. 21’ dated February 11.

The ninth prosecution witness said in another CCTV recording, that is, on the day of the incident (February 13, 2017), Doan appeared to ‘do the same thing’ to Kim Chol but in a rough manner ‘like an attack’.

“In my opinion, her action was rather aggressive. The difference was, the accused, Doan, walked briskly and she appeared to be rushing,” he testified to the Deputy Public Prosecutor, Wan Shaharuddin Wan Ladin on the difference of actions by Doan to the members of public and the victim.

He said, the CCTV footage at Level 3 was near the self check-in counter of the KLIA2 Departure Hall while the footage of CCTV 21 showed incidences at the green zone of Level 3 in KLIA2.

Wan Azirul Nizam testified on the sixth day of Kim Jong-nam’s murder trial where Indonesian Siti Aisyah, 25, and Doan, 28, are charged with four other accused that are still at large.

They were charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murdering Kim Chol, 45, at the KLIA 2 Departure Hall at 9.00 a.m. last 13 February. They will be sentenced to a death penalty upon conviction.

Answering to the questions of Wan Shaharuddin, the witness said that he investigated the differences of 23 CCTV footages to compare if both the accused had any intention to murder.

The court will resume tomorrow before Judge Datuk Azmi Ariffin. -MalaysiaGazette
