SEPANG – Police are investigating allegations that a senior official of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) had an affair with a married woman under Section 498 of the Penal Code, said Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun.

“The investigation is on-going. We are in the process of determining the facts, if need be, we will arrest.

“Give us (police) ample time to investigate this matter. It is not easy for us to detect but we are trying hard to find who is responsible,” he told reporters when asked to comment on a senior MACC official who allegedly had a relationship with a married woman.

Mohamad Fuzi was earlier reported to have confirmed that police had received a report about a senior MACC official who was alleged to have a secret relationship with a married woman.

According to media reports earlier, the woman, a mother of two had divorced last September following the involvement of a third party in their relationship.

Section 498 of the Penal Code refers to the offence of enticing or taking away, or detaining with a criminal intent a married woman. Upon conviction, a person could be imprisoned, or fined or both. -MalaysiaGazette
