KOTA KINABALU – The Magistrate Court has released businessman, Hamid Apdal, 52, who was arrested for the embezzlement of public funds in Sabah today.
The order was issued by Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie at Damai Specialist Hospital, where he is receiving his treatment at 10.00 a.m. today.
He was released on a bail of RM50,000 with RM25,000 in deposit and two sureties.
Stephanie arrived at 9.50 a.m. and was seen leaving the venue 10 minutes later.
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission was represented by Prosecutor Mohd Faliq Basiruddin while Hamid was represented by attorneys Martin Tommy and Hamid Ismail.
Hamid, who is also the younger brother of Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan)’s President was on a 10 day remand since last 10 October for probe on the misappropriation of government funds for the development of rural area worth RM1.5 billion between 2009 and 2015. – MalaysiaGazette
