KUALA LUMPUR – The government has planned to establish a committee at the Ministry of Finance (MOF) to study the participation of the Indian community in the Government Linked Companies (GLC).

The President of MIC Datuk Seri Dr. S. Subramaniam said, the measure will find the best method to create business opportunities for the Indian entrepreneurs.

“Many Indian graduates started venturing into small businesses after completing their education at the public universities.

“They may need a little push as an encouragement to partake in the government agencies sectors or the GLCs.

“We will have further communications with the Deputy Prime Minister on the matter,” he said in a media conference after the Handing over of Citizenship Approval Ceremony by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to 177 Indians today.

Subramaniam was satisfied with the commitment of the government and the Home Ministry to help overcome the problem with documentations among the Indian community.

At the same time, he will also have a discussion with the Home Minister in search of a solution for the citizenship documentation problems among the Indian community aggressively.

“The social issue faced by the Indian community is that they don’t register their marriage. This caused them to not register the birth of their children.

“They get married, give birth but they do not know how to handle the registration for the birth of their children. It should not happen to anymore Indians after this,” he said. – MalaysiaGazette
