JOHOR BHARU – The Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar had ordered the ban of two controversial religious speakers, Zimbabwean Mufti, Ismail Menk and Haslin Baharim, better known as Ustaz Haslin Bollywood from delivering religious speeches in Johor.

The ban is followed by the opinion of the two speakers could affect the unity and harmony among the multi-races.

According to a report in Berita Harian, the Johor Islamic Affairs Committee Chaiman, Abd Mutalip Abd Rahim said, the royal decree was issued today.

“The content of the speech by both speakers prior to this could upset the harmony of the community.

“The Johor religious department will continue to monitor religious speeches in the state to ensure that no elements or opinion that could lead to racial dispute or disunity is delivered in the state,” he told Berita Harian.

Earlier, the Singapore government had banned the two speakers from entering the republic following the judgement that the speakers could be sharing opinions that promote religious discord.

The Home Ministry of Singapore said in a statement that Ismail Menk promotes ‘segregationist and divisive teachings’ after Menk said Muslims were not allowed to greet people of other faiths on their religious festivals.

Haslin on the other hand promoted ‘disharmony between Muslims and non-Muslims’for of holding views that promote friction between Muslims and non-Muslims, whom Singapore allegedly described as ‘deviant’. – MalaysiaGazette
