PUTRAJAYA – Minister of Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government slammed Menteri Besar of Selangor, Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali for being double standard by politicising the jobs and responsibilities of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and the police.
The Selangor UMNO Liaison Committee Chairman, Tan Sri Noh Omar also said that MACC is a ‘colour blind’ enforcement agency when dealing with their investigations, including cases involving politicians.
“I’m not surprise if Azmin throws such accusations (despite MACC emphasized that they are not politically motivated) as he is the person who purposely politicise issues involving the MACC and police.
“To him, PKR and its allies should never be ‘touched’. It is only right for the leaders in BN or UMNO to be arrested. If anyone from PKR is involved, he accuse it as being political,” he told the journalists today after being asked to comment about the President of Selangor Pakatan Harapan and Deputy President of PKR’s accusation on MACC for being influenced politically to arrest his nephew over the involvement in illegal sand mining in the state.
He added, Azmin, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) of Gombak tried to change the perception of the people in the state that only he and his allies are always transparent and corruption-free.
“That is the political games of Azmin and that had caused the former Menteri Besar of Selangor, Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim to be sick of his attitude, thus, return to support Barisan Nasional.
“BN is always relevant and is proven to be transparent and do not politicise our enforcement agencies. Azmin, stop disturbing the MACC and the police by throwing baseless accusations that MACC acted in accordance to political instructions,” he said.
When asked about the Deputy President of PAS, Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man’s statement on Khalid Ibrahim, who is also the free MP of Bandar Tun Razak’s support for UMNO and PAS, Noh said, that is the right decision as Khalid realised that only PAS and UMNO fights for Islam and the Malays.
“He will work with any party who fights for Islam and the Malays. He sees that PAS and UMNO serve that purpose. Whereas, PKR is being controlled by the chauvinist DAP,” he added. – MalaysiaGazette
