KUALA LUMPUR – The cost of bicycle lanes in Kuala Lumpur will cost RM4 million and not RM 4 billion, said the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) in a statement today.
DBKL made clarifications on the matter following a misreport by a local media which quoted the cost of the dedicated bicycle lane as RM4 billion.
The media has corrected its statement after being contacted by DBKL as the matter received criticisms from the opposition friendly media and questioned the logic of the cost by blaming the DBKL.
It was also understood that DBKL is also looking into the installation of flexible barrier as a replacement to rubber separator for the pilot 6km route project which will connect Menara DBKL 1 on Jalan Raja Laut to Menara DBKL 3 in Bandar Wawasan on Jalan Raja Abdullah.
Meanwhile, fake news is being circulated by comparing this alleged RM4 billion DBKL bicycle lane with the Penang undersea tunnel project that costs RM6.34 billion based on this misreport. -MalaysiaGazette
