KUALA LUMPUR – Independent speaker Syamsul Debat denied allegations which claimed that he has an affair with a married woman as the rumours became viral in the social media today.

In a media conference today, he emphasized the viral reports which stated him as the individual being investigated by the Negeri Sembilan police recently is untrue.

The allegations had tarnished his good name and affected his family.

Therefore, Syamsul is considering to pursue take legal actions on this matter.

“The media conference today is held to deny the allegations against me based on the reports by the newspapers.

“I am called to make this press conference as the reports have affected me and my family.

“I am also looking into pursuing legal actions, especially on the media as though I have been charged.

“These were only rumours,” he said without citing a specific report or media.

At the same time, Syamsul also slammed the media for not getting confirmations on the rumours as unethical.

“I think that the whole Malaysia knows about this. Some newspapers reported my name while several others published my picture, referring the matter to me and included my biodata in it. I don’t think that is right in terms of ethics,” he added.

At the same time, he also urged the media who slandered him to apologised.

Earlier, reports claimed that the Negeri Sembilan Deputy Police Chief, Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun said that the police have received a report in lodged in Johor Bahru yesterday on the allegations and will investigate on the matter.

Nevertheless, Muhammad refused to elaborate further on the report or disclose the name of the preacher as investigation is ongoing. -MalaysiaGazette
