PUTRAJAYA – Jia Zhong, the association of network of parents advocating Chinese language education have urged the government to place serious focus on the alleged funds embezzlement in many National Type Chinese Schools (SJKCs).
The advisor of Jia Zong, Edward Neoh Chuan Tat said, Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad who has been named as the Minister of Education is hoped to bring change to the SJKC education system which was in vain despite hundreds of reports were made on almost 1,000 schools since 2009.
Edward described the SJKC system as lawless when the schools are free to do anything, including the mismanagement of funds.
“SJKCs do not require additional fees for certain classes held during the school hours.
“However, parents were required to pay fees amounting to RM200 monthly for their children despite SJKCs are public schools. How can a government school continue to charge fees like these as though they are not being governed by the law.
“SJKC are seen as being lawless and the association is confident that the culture of corruption and power abuse is getting more serious as they have gathered a lot of funds,” he said in a gathering with about 30 members of the association in front of the Perdana Leadership Foundation.
Jia Zong then submitted the information to their claims to the representative of the Prime Minister, Shaarani Abdul Rahman.
Edward also said that they will be lodging a report to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission today to proof that Jia Zong is serious in curbing these unhealthy ethics which has been a culture in SJKC for a very long time. – MalaysiaGazette
