KUALA LUMPUR – The Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Based Industry Salahuddin Ayub said that the ministry has proposed to the cabinet to resume the National Feedlot Corporation (NFC) programme.
In an interview with Astro Awani, Salahuddin said that besides proposing for the programme to be continued, he also proposed for the NFC to be rebranded to avoid confusion with the previous project.
“I need to be more objective. We don’t come here with vengeance. I see that the objectives of NFC is good and pure.
“With NFC, we could reach 30 percent meat source from local supplies. I am confident that the youths would be interested in farming and the government can provide sufficient assistance,” he said.
Salahuddin said, the ministry will identify lands in Negeri Sembilan, Segamat and Muar in Johor for the project.
“There is no problem to get lands in Johor. I am very close with the Menteri Besar of Johor. We can negotiate.
“These are the aspirations of a minister who was once a farmer and fish wholesaler,” he said. -MalaysiaGazette
