PUTRAJAYA – Civil servants Grade 41 and below will receive an RM400 special aid while government pensioners will be receiving RM200, said Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

He said, the special aid was granted after the government has strengthened the national financial position through various cost saving measures announced last week.

“We have strengthened the financial situation of the government, among which, the special aid amounting to RM400 for civil servants with the grade of 41 and below.

“Meanwhile, government pensioners will receive a special aid of RM200, including myself,” he said in a press conference after chairing the Cabinet meeting at the Perdana Putra today.

Yesterday, Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng said that the Aidilfitri bonus announcement for the civil servants will be announced by the Prime Minister today after the cabinet meeting.

Earlier on Monday, the Prime Minister confirmed that the civil servants will be given an Aidilfitri bonus. Nevertheless, he did not give any details on its amount.

Meanwhile, the 1Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M) introduced by Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak will also be replaced with a different name soon.

“We will be handing out the cost-of-living-allowance (COLA) in place of the 1Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M) that was given by the previous government.

“We will maintain the amount of aid offered in BR1M prior to this,” he said.

He also added that the aid is part of the 100 days promises of the Pakatan Harapan government, which will only be fulfilled based on the current financial situation of the country.

“These promises will be fulfilled. Nevertheless, we must take into considerations for the financial situation of the country so that it would not affect the administration of the country.

“The promises will be commenced in at least 100 days,” he added. – MalaysiaGazette
