KUALA LUMPUR – The Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry Ministry will introduce a new business model in three months’ time for the failed National Feedlot Corporation (NFC).
Its Minister Salahuddin Ayub said the new initiative would be undertaken in a holistic manner to enhance the production of local meat (beef) to 30 per cent in the future.
“The matter is being discussed with all issues being addressed and the new business model will ensure our objective of increasing local meat production is realised.
“The views of all stakeholders will be considered for the new business model as it is an important industry,” he told reporters at the ‘Empowering Young Minds’ forum, organised by the Malaysian Consortium of Mid-Tier Companies here today.
He also said the ministry would not act in haste in introducing the new business model and without taking on board all issues and views.
Meanwhile, Salahuddin also announced that online marketeer, Najib Assadok, had declined being named to the National Agriculture Advisory Council.
His replacement will be named next week. -Bernama
