
KUALA LUMPUR – Deputy Chief Commissioner (Operation) of the Malaysian Anti-Commission of Malaysia (MACC) Datuk Seri Azam Baki said that the arrest of former Prime Minister Seri Najib Razak will not involve his wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor at this moment.
He said, only Najib was arrested and it did not involve any other individuals, including Rosmah.
“We do not expect any other arrest at the moment, whether it involves Datin Seri Rosmah or otherwise,” he said through a Whatsapp message.
He added, the investigation paper on Najib is completed and the Attorney-General Tommy Thomas has agreed to charge the former Prime Minister tomorrow.
“Investigation papers on SRC International is already completed and the Attorney-General’s Chambers has agreed to charge Najib,” Azam Baki said.
Najib was arrested by the investigators from MACC at his residence in Langgak Duta at 2.35 p.m. today.
The 1MDB Taskforce confirmed the arrest of the Pekan Member of Parliament and said that he would be charged at the Kuala Lumpur Courts at 8.30 a.m. tomorrow.
He is believed to be investigated under Section 409 of the Penal Code and Section 21 of the MACC Act for being an officer of the public body solicits or accepts any gratification as a reward. The Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001 (AMLA) may also be applied in his investigation. -MalaysiaGazette
