PUTRAJAYA – Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi refused to comment on the arrest of his former boss, Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
He who just finished giving his statements for the second time at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on the investigation of the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) and Yayasan Akal Budi said that he did not have any information on the arrest by MACC.
“I do not want to comment, I did not get any information,” he said in a press conference outside the Headquarters of MACC.
Ahmad Zahid took seven hours to give his statements in regards to the management of funds in the foundation which was used to pay for his wife’s and his personal credit cards amounting to RM800,000.
When asked by the media practitioners if he was shocked by the arrest, Ahmad Zahid said that he wished that the investigation was done transparently and hoped that it can clear the negative perceptions of the people towards the former President of UMNO.
“I respect the laws and I support that investigations should be done. The evidences and witnesses must be presented to clear the image and perceptions of the people,” he added.
Najib was arrested by the MACC at his residence in Langgak Duta at 2.35 p.m. today.
Meanwhile, the 1MDB Taskforce has confirmed the arrest of the Member of Parliament of Pekan and said that he would be charged at the Kuala Lumpur Court at 8.30 a.m. tomorrow. -MalaysiaGazette
