JOHOR BAHRU – Minister of Economic Affairs, Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali takes the lead in the contest for PKR Deputy President’s post after garnering 4,503 votes in Johor while his sole contender Mohd Rafizi Ramli secured 3,976 votes.
Mohamed Azmin is the incumbent of the post, while Mohd Rafizi is Vice-President.
PKR Central Election Committee (JPP) Deputy Chairman Dr Adzman Hedra said the JPP was satisfied as there was neither incident nor glitch affecting the election process, which involved 24 divisions of the party in the state.
However, he said only a total of 10,725 out of 37,934 eligible members in the state casted their votes..
Voters turnout was only 39.29 percent in Segamat, 39.77 percent in Pagoh, 37.10 percent in Kulai, 35.92 percent in Sekijang, 34.07 percent in Simpang Renggam, 30.81 percent in Bakri and 30.61 percent in Parit Sulong, while in other divisions, only between 11.72 per cent and 28.77 per cent.
The polls saw 53 candidates contesting the posts of division chief, while 163 others contesting for the post of deputy chiefs, vice-chiefs and committee members. -BERNAMA
