KUALA LUMPUR – The incumbent Vice-President of PKR, Rafizi Ramli is taking a lead over his rival Datuk Seri Azmin Ali for the position of the Deputy President post when he won the polls for the Federal Territories division.
The latest report made Rafizi the winner in four states namely Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang and the latest Federal Territories out of the six states which had run its polls.
The two states which had completed its party election and voted for Azmin are Penang and Johor.
Rafizi obtained a total of 19,160 votes or 50.1 percent in 51 out of 88 branches, while Azmin raked 19,112 votes or 49.9 percent of the votes in 37 branches.
The official results for the election in the Federal Territories gave Rafizi 2,934 votes compared to Azmin received 2,794 votes (with a majority of 177 votes).
He also won in seven branches out of the 13 branches which conducted the polls.
In his Facebook post, Rafizi expressed his gratitude to the members of PKR throughout the country who performed their duties in the party polls.
“In the past 3 days, thousands of party members braced through the hot weather to join the biggest party democracy festival in Malaysia,” he said.
He also felt indebted to his friends in the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan who gave him their votes and granted him the victory.
“As of now, the #Reformasi20Tahun (#20YearsReformation) have won in 4 out of 6 states and put Akmal Nasir and I in lead for the contest for the Deputy President and AMK Youth Chief posts.
“More candidates from the #Reformasi20Tahun list is in the run for the 20 supreme council members list.
“Let us work together to get better results in the following week in the branches in Selangor,” he said. -MalaysiaGazette
