KUALA LUMPUR – Datuk Seri Najib Razak slammed the Finance Minister for saying that the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government had never promised that the prices of goods would be reduced with the implementation of SST.
The former Prime Minister has taken the social media to a greater height by questioning the policies and direction of the PH government, which made many U-turns, including the latest one from Lim Guan Eng on the abolishment of GST and the implementation of SST.
In his Facebook post, Najib queried the government for abolishing GST by replacing it with SST when the prices of goods did not reduce following its implementation besides causing a lot of inconvenience to the people.
“Thousands of people went to the streets, hundreds of political talks and propaganda called for the abolishment of GST and the reintroduction of SST would reduce the prices of goods prior to GE14. We’ve not forgotten that. It’s even worse now when PH claimed that they have never promised that it will take place,” he said, elaborating Guan Eng’s statement at the Parliament which emphasized that he had never promised that the prices of goods nor the cost of living would reduce by replacing the GST with SST.
In addition, Guan Eng also challenge anyone, especially the oppositions to show evidences of him making such promises. If they fail to do so, they should stop slandering him.
Najib also added that the current government, which was then the opposition who toyed with the propaganda of abolishing GST in order to reduce the prices of goods with the implementation of SST, has now changed.
“If it cannot reduce the prices of goods, why then did you want to abolish GST so badly, a system which is far more transparent and chose to return to SST which has many flaws?” Najib highlighted. -MalaysiaGazette
