SUBANG JAYA – The Ministry of Works (MoW) will announce their stand on nationwide toll abolishment after an agreement is reached in a meeting with the Ministry of Finance (MoF) soon.
The Minister of Works, Baru Bian said, they will factor in all aspects before implementing the Pakatan Harapan (PH) manifesto and he also gave his guarantees that it would not burden the people.
“I do not want to think that way (toll will certainly be abolished) but we will discuss and study about it. Therefore, let’s wait for the final decision between MoF and MoW.
“We will decide based on the whole picture, we will not take one from here and there (toll) but we will look into the whole picture with the basics for the welfare of the people.
“The total of toll concessions takeover need to be factored in if we want to abolish all tolls,” he said when met at the Sunway Pyramid Convention centre.
Elaborating on the PH 14th General Election (GE14) manifesto to abolish tolls nationwide after seizing Putrajaya from the Barisan Nasional (BN), the promise is still unfulfilled as the national economy situation did not permit due to the high national debt which had allegedly reached RM1 trillion.
Baru Bian also admitted that the ministry had met up with all toll operators in the country on the takeover processes.
“We have met all toll concessions and we will discuss in the meeting between MoF and MoW.
“After that, we will make a proposal to the cabinet ministers so that it can be decided. Let’s wait for the decision from the discussions,” he added. -MalaysiaGazette
