KUALA LUMPUR – The excuses used by Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng that Jho Low was the root for the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government not to fulfil their promise on PTPTN was absurd and hilarious.
The former Chairman of the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) Datuk Dr. Shamsul Anuar Nasarah said, only those who supported the PH blindly would believe such accusations. Smarter people would not.
“I was the former Chairman of PTPTN. I know what it is difficult to be implemented. The answer is within PTPTN. Therefore, refer to the management of PTPTN on its true situation,” he commented on Guan Eng’s finger pointing at Jho Low, the mastermind for the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) scandal as the cause for the failure of the government in fulfilling its promises on the repayment of PTPTN.
According to him, the answer given by Guan Eng was a shame as Malaysians have a Finance Minister who loved making baseless statements.
“This could be dangerous when various parties could lose their confidence on the Minister of Finance and the people could be affected,” he said.
The UMNO Communications Chief also said that Guan Eng, as a senior minister in the PH government should understand the financial status faced by PTPTN.
“It is truly unfortunate if he does not understand that as the cashflow of PTPTN would affect national finance.
“Did LGE really not know, or did he purposely pretend not to know where the PTPTN funds came from?” he questioned.
He said, the Education Minister or the Chairman of PTPTN should have given Guan Eng’s clear information on the PTPTN’s financial information so that these baseless statements would not be issued again.
“Truthfully, the PTPTN has nothing to do with Jho Low. It was only an endless perception manipulations by Guan Eng,” he added. -MalaysiaGazette
