
KUALA LUMPUR – Minister in Prime Minister’s Department P. Waytha Moorthy will give his statements to the police in regards to his seditious and racial comments over the Sri Maha Mariamman temple riot.
“His statements have been taken after being rescheduled several times, if there is no other changes,” said the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Fuzi Haron after officiating the third UNIKOP College Convocation at Maktab PDRM today.
Yesterday, Home Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said that the police can investigate Waytha Moorthy if there is a need to do so.
To date, the police have arrested 83 individuals to assist into the investigation of the temple riot.
According to the IGP, all individuals arrested are local citizen.
The police is still running the operation in hunting down several other individuals involved in the riot believed to be at large.
“We are hunting down the suspects and all of them were related with the incident at Seafield temple,” he said.
All of them were being investigated under the Penal Code in accordance to Section 435 (commits mischief by fire or any explosive substance, intending to cause, or knowing it to be likely that he will thereby cause, damage to any property), Section 147 (for rioting), Section 427 (Committing mischief and thereby causing damage) and Section 447 (Criminal Trespass).
The riot had caused a member of the Emergency Medical Response Services (EMRS) unit at the Subang Jaya Fire and Rescue Department, Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim, 24, to suffer internal broken ribs and internal injuries. -MalaysiaGazette
