KUALA LUMPUR – In less than 24 hours after the Sabah UMNO leaders announced their resignation from the party, a photograph of the UMNO Supreme Council members along with Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad went viral in the social media.
While the UMNO leadership is seeking for the mastermind behind the embarrassing mass defections in Sabah which include accusing its former Vice-President, Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Hussein for being an instrument which caused UMNO members to ditch the party, the heatwave now caught up with its Deputy President, Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan.
The viral photograph showed Mohamad, who is better known as Tok Mat together with Tan Sri Noh Omar, Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin and Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim in their recent meeting with Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
It also raised speculations that those UMNO leaders were scheming a strategy to encourage the MPs from UMNO to ditch the party.
Nevertheless, the allegations were inaccurate and untrue.
According to a source of MalaysiaGazette, the photograph was taken before the Port Dickson by-election and it was a dinner invitation by Dr Mahathir himself to his home.
The meeting was solely to seek solution and to counter efforts in banning UMNO. -MalaysiaGazette
