KUALA LUMPUR – To save UMNO from collapsing, the President of UMNO Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has handed over his duties in the party to his Deputy, Datuk Seri Mohamad Hassan.
“I felt the unease of some of the UMNO leaders as they fear that they will receive the pressure, investigations and accusations I had received.
“For the sake of UMNO and its leaders, especially the Members of Parliament, state assemblymen and divisions in UMNO, measures to rescue the situation we’re in must be taken immediately,” Ahmad Zahid said in a statement last night.
He also hoped that with the hand over of power to Mohamad, all polemics which hit the UMNO leadership will end.
“I urge the Members of Parliament and State Assemblymen to stop the party exodus after this,” he said. -MalaysiaGazette
