Mustafar appointed to lead NFCC

PUTRAJAYA – The Director-General of Immigration, Datuk Seri Mustafar Ali who retired today will head the National Financial Crime Centre (NFCC) as its Chief Executive beginning 2 January.

According to Mustafar, he had received the official letter of appointment from the Public Services Commission of Malaysia.

“The Prime Minister has entrusted me to carry on my duties in the public service.

“I will begin my duties this Wednesday and I’ve shifted my stuffs to the new office,” he said during the press conference after delivering his speech to the employees of the Immigration Department of Malaysia during his farewell ceremony.

The NFCC is a new agency established by the government in curbing money-laundering activities.

Refusing to elaborate further on his new task, Mustafar hoped to that he would continue his excellence as what he did in the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), Malaysian Institute of Integrity (IIM) and the Immigration Department of Malaysia.

“We want to be proactive and I am ready (to face my new assignments),” he added.

Mustafar further said that the Deputy Director-General (Management) of Immigration Datuk Abd. Halim Abd. Rahman will be acting as the DG while waiting for the appointment of a new Director-General. -MalaysiaGazette
