KUALA LUMPUR – Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail thinks that there is no issue surrounding her which requires her to release her position as the Deputy Prime Minister.

She also said that we will resign from that position when her husband, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is appointed as the Prime Minister.

According to her, there is no problem on the understanding of the matter and it could be seen when the Member of Parliament of Port Dickson succeeded her as the President of PKR.

“I don’t think there is an issue as we have promised that the Prime Minister is Tun Dr Mahathir, while I am the Deputy Prime Minister.

“When Datuk Seri Anwar took over the position as the party’s (PKR) President, there is no difference. Therefore, when Anwar becomes the PM, I will leave this position (as the Deputy Prime Minister). So, there should be no issue,” she said when met by the journalists after launching the IACSP Cyber Security Conference.

Earlier, she was asked to elaborate on the opinion of Damansara Division Leader of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM), Mohd Shaid Rosli who urged Wan Azizah  to release her position as a power transition for Anwar as the Prime Minister.

Mohd Shaid, who is also the Jeram State Assemblyman said, the power transition will take place smoothly if the procedure is followed. He also requested Dr. Wan Azizah to resign if she wants her husband to become the Prime Minister.

Meanwhile, Wan Azizah emphasized that everyone must obey the decision made by Prime Minister on the issue and not raise further questions on that. -MalaysiaGazette
