KUALA LUMPUR – “Resign or killing ourselves is not our way. I know that some countries, when their plane crashes, their Minister of Transport will resign or jump off a building but we don’t do that (merely) because other people do that,” Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad responded to a statement made by his Media Advisor Datuk A. Kadir Jasin that most of the leaders in foreign countries will resign if they are implicated with scandals.
Dr. Mahathir defended Datuk Seri Azmin Ali and said he believes that the distribution of gay sex videos and confession by the former Senior Private Secretary to the Deputy Minister of Primary Industry, Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz were merely dirty political games aimed to topple the Minister of Economic Affairs.
“Here (the distribution of gay sex video) is surely a trial and plan to affect Azmin Ali’s future.
“I don’t think he is that stupid to do such things and record it.
“I believe that someone took those photos to topple him.
“With the magic of technologies now, you can make as many photos which may be true, or fake,” he added.
In his blog yesterday, Kadir described the distribution of the said sex video as a test for the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government on their promises to be a transparent and accountable government.
He, who is also the Supreme Council Member of PPBM also quoted several international leaders who resigned after being implicated with scandals.
“The question that needs to be answered by every PH leaders is, will I use my position in the party and government to protect myself from the mistakes I’ve done or to protect my party and government from shameful events by doing the right things?” he wrote in his blog.
Nevertheless, Kadir did not specifically mention which scandal he meant and he did not make any remarks on the sex videos which allegedly involve Azmin. -MalaysiaGazette
