GELANG PATAH – Following a viral video where a student was caned by a teacher for teasing him as effeminate, a group of students and former students have taken the social media in making a stand for their beloved teacher.
A netizen who introduced herself as the former student of the teacher said, he was her class and Bahasa Melayu teacher.
According to the netizen, although she did not grasp English and the Malay language well while the teacher did not understand Mandarin, he tried his best to explain everything to the students.
“Although I did not like this subject, he taught me patiently.
“Although I kept repeating the same question, he continued to explain patiently,” the former student wrote in Mandarin.
According to her, the dedications of the teacher enabled her to obtain good results in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination.
She also said that the teacher often bring food for the students and will allow them to rest before continuing his lessons.
“We also joked a lot with the teacher but he was never angry,” she said in a Facebook post which was quoted in China Press.
According to that student, the teacher does not have an effeminate character, but has a high pitch voice.
According to China Press, some students came forward to show their support for the teacher as they do not want to lose a good teacher.
“That teacher has taught me. He does not have a bad temper. If the student did not went overboard, it would be impossible for the teacher to cane her,” said a Facebook user.
Meanwhile, in Sinchew Daily, a former student condemned the action of uploading the video into the internet which caused the educator to be a target of criticisms.
Some students reported that they have never been caned nor scolded by the teacher although they received unsatisfactory Bahasa Melayu results.
“The teacher treated the students very well and we could not say anything,” a student said.
In the recent viral video, a woman believed to be the mother of a student was seen to have confronted the teacher.
The video also showed bruise marks on the arms and thighs of a female student.
The woman was arguing with the teacher on his action of caning the student while the teacher was trying to explain the situation.
Another woman, believed to be a teacher from the school was speaking in Mandarin and requested the mother to understand the circumstances of the male teacher who was mocked suddenly in front of the students. -MalaysiaGazette
