KUALA LUMPUR – Yeo Bee Yin will be taking legal actions on those responsible in spreading slander on the Pasir Gudang air pollution issue.

The Minister of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change slammed the UMNO Johor Official Facebook account for uploading photos of her and her husband and alleged that her husband owns three chemical plants in Pasir Gudang.

The viral photos also suggested that the minister did not make a prompt action in the Pasir Gudang pollution as her husband, the Chief Executive Officer of IOI Properties Group, Lee Yeo Seng owns three of the chemical plants there.

“Is this really YB Yeo Bee Yin… no wonder the action is slow.

“Yeo Bee Yin’s husband has three chemical plants in Pasir Gudang… why is the government slow in taking actions?” wrote the viral post.

It also published the names of the three factories namely, IOI Pan Century Oleochemical, IOI Lipid Enzymetec and IOI Pan Century Edible Oil.

In a statement rebutting the claims, Bee Yin claimed that the unscrupulous post is not only a slander against her and her husband.

It is also an insult to the hundreds of civil servants from various agencies who are involved in handling the recent health crisis in Pasir Gudang.

“They work hard day and night relentlessly to provide health assistance, take parameter reading, analyse data for the welfare of the residents in Pasir Gudang,” she said in a statement today.

According to Bee Yin, the action of politicising the health crisis is despicable as they did not consider the feelings and trauma of the parents and children affected by the situation.

“I will take legal actions against everyone who spread the slander and misuse the freedom of speech,” she emphasized. -MalaysiaGazette
