KUALA LUMPUR – There is not breach of disciplinary code in Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz’s statement, which questioned the appointment of Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak as the Chairman to the Barisan Nasional (BN) Advisory Board last week.

The Secretary-General of UMNO Datuk Seri Annuar Musa said, the statement issued by the UMNO member was his personal opinion. No disciplinary action will be taken upon him and he has the rights and is free to voice his opinion.

“He has the rights to voice his opinion, it (Najib’s appointment) was agreed in the BN Supreme Council meeting. It was an consensus made in accordance to the procedures.

“Besides, the position is not under the party’s constitution. It is only the administration decision and Zahid Hamidi (the President of UMNO) and the chairmen of the component parties felt that Najib has a role,” he said at the lobby of the Parliament today.

When asked about Nazri’s opinion that Najib was trying to be the President again, Annuar said that the accusation was not fair.

“He should not throw such accusation. That was not fair. Najib lost the battle, he cannot be the chairman.

“He cannot become the Chairman of the party by becoming the Chairman of the Advisory Board as it is stated clearly in the BN’s constitution that the chairman must be chosen from the component parties.

“Besides, the issue is over, thus, it would be good for us not to elaborate further on that.

“Furthermore, Nazri’s action was not a disciplinary issue. It was the decision of BN’s administration and we should respect that,” he said. -MalaysiaGazette
