PUTRAJAYA – Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said that the proposal for him to lead the government until the end of its term was only the personal opinion of Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.
The Prime Minister reemphasized that he has promised to resign, based on a suitable duration and scenario.
“That is his opinion, but, I have promised to resign when the situation of the country is right.
“Perhaps two or three years. I don’t know. We are moving towards that,” he said after attending the Roundtable Discussion: The Prime Minister of Malaysia with the International Chambers of Commerce by Talent Corp at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre today, when asked to comment on Azmin’s support for him to be given the chance to lead until the end of the term.
The Deputy President of PKR welcomed the suggestion from the President of PAS< Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang who said that the party, along with UMNO, will support Mahathir as the Prime Minister until the end of the term.
According to Azmin, he shares the opinion of the two parties so that the efforts to return the country to its glory can be realise as soon as possible.
He also said that the bipartisan support towards Dr Mahathir is a new chapter in Malaysian politics, where the interests of the people are placed first.
When asked if the internal conflicts in PKR needed be resolved in the Pakatan Harapan Presidency Council Meeting, Mahathir said that it is PKR’s internal problem. -MalaysiaGazette
