KUALA LUMPUR – DAP is said to be in a dilemma after the introduction of Jawi khat in the syllabus of Bahasa Melayu for primary school. Therefore, the party has called all its people’s representatives and party leaders in a closed door meeting on Monday.

The meeting will provide an opportunity for party leaders to explain on the issue, which a party member describes as, ‘the first biggest problem which hits DAP after the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition rules the country’.

China Press reported that the determination of the Education Ministry in going ahead with the plan to introduce Jawi khat has caused the dissatisfaction among the grassroots of the party.

The dissatisfaction, may be channelled into the coming party election, which will bring to the fall of ‘party leaders who failed to carry out their duties well’.

Meanwhile, DAP has also failed to influence their partners in PH to withdraw the decision on Jawi khat as the u-turn will cause the other parties in PH to be seen as the lackey of DAP.

The jawi khat continues to be a burning issue in DAP and the party has also failed in calming the grassroots through local small briefing sessions.

DAP is now divided into two groups, where the first believes that the six-pages of khat art in the text books will not impact the Chinese schools.

The opposing group on the other hand thinks that the decision to learn Jawi khat will open a space and its impact to Chinese schools is unpredictable. -MalaysiaGazette
