KUALA LUMPUR – Controversial Islamic preacher Dr Zakir Naik has entered the premise of the Bukit Aman Police Headquarters to record his statements.
He was called to give his statements following his recent religious talk in Kelantan which incited racial tensions. In his talk, he questioned the loyalty of Malaysian Hindus to Malaysia and claimed that they are more loyal to the Prime Minister in India, Narendra Modi. He also said that the ‘old guests’, Malaysian Chinese should be sent back to China before he, the ‘new guest’ is extradited back to India.
He was strongly criticised for his speech with and politicians and non-government organisations calling for the extradition of the Malaysian Permanent-Resident. Zakir is wanted by the Indian authorities for money-laundering, inciting communal disharmony and committing unlawful activities in India.
Based on early information, the preacher entered Bukit Aman at about 3.00 pm.
Yesterday, Home Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin said that the police will be calling the United Chinese School Committees Association (Dong Zong), businessman and founder of Gamuda Koon Yew Yin and Zakir for questioning over their racist statements following police reports lodged against them. -MalaysiaGazette
